Originally, Malbec was made in France as a blending wine to create their "Bordeaux Blend.” Unfortunately it’s pretty difficult to grow grapes, which caused prices to skyrocket and popularity to drop. Years later Malbec found a resurgence in Argentina, which eventually led to worldwide popularity.
