87 PTS WINE SPECTATOR. The '98 Liparita Merlot is ripe, with cocoa, blackberry and herb notes; toasty oak and firm, dry tannins through the finish; drink now through 2004.

A husky chardonnay with superb depth of fruit, the '98 Liparita is a very rich and deep wine from a mountain vineyard; excellent on the palate, the wine would match up nicely with rich meat dishes.
