89 PTS WILFRED WONG. Rich and ripe, the almost ostentatious '98 Easton Merlot from California's Shenandoah Valley offers full-bodied textures and a long, almost lusty finish; great with braised meats.

Ripe with spicy blackberry and plum aromas; notes of lush cherry and pepper on the palate; the finish is complex with moderate tannins and well balanced. Great to pair fresh tomato based pastas.

Rich, yet not outrageous, the sophisticated Easton Fiddletown Zinfandel is a solid wine with excellent ripe fruit density; pair with grilled lamb and enjoy one of California's great food/wine matches.
