Clos Du Caillou

The Clos du Caillou Cotes du Rhone Rose offers rich character of red fruits and sweet earth; lots to like here in a very expressive, crisp pink wine.

90 PTS WINE ADVOCATE. The '09 Caillou CDP Les Safres, is bright and ruby in color; red currant, wild strawberry, smoke and minerals; silky and suave; red fruit flavors; lively acidity; sweet tannins.

95 PTS WINE SPECTATOR. The '05 Caillou CDP Quartz delivers mouthfilling mocha, blackberry confiture fig paste and licorice flavors with loamy tannins and lots of bittersweet cocoa on the finish.

91-93 PTS STEPHEN TANZER. The '04 Dom Clos du Caillou Chateauneuf-du-Pape Quartz is powerful and expressive on the nose, with intense aromas of dark berries and bitter chocolate; excellent grip.

Very dark and seductive, this is essentially Caillou's Reserve Cotes du Rhone. This 1999 version is primarily Grenache, with some Syrah and Mourvedre. Very tasty, very rich, and very delicious!

le Clos du Caillou is known for producing very rich Cotes du Rhone; bold, black fruit flavors, with a hint of black pepper, medium to full bodied; excellent with oven baked squab or duck.
